Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data Compare the Heat collects, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We have tried to write it in plain English rather than legal boilerplate.

Who we are

Compare the Heat is operated by POLICYANDPLAY LTD, registered in England and Wales, company number 17253846, registered office 7 Cosford Drive, Bedford, England, MK42 0DQ. We are the data controller for the information described here, registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under reference ZC165321.

What we collect, and why

We do not ask for your name, address, phone number or payment details, and we never see your card. All bookings and payments happen on the partner's own website under their terms and their privacy policy.

Trip reminder emails

If you ask us to remind you, we use your travel dates to send a short sequence of emails about the parts of a trip people commonly forget, such as airport transfers, car hire, travel insurance and mobile data. This sequence includes an email after you return, because delayed and cancelled flights can be worth compensation and the claim window is several years.

These emails contain affiliate links. Every one has a one-click unsubscribe, and unsubscribing stops the whole sequence immediately.

How long we keep it

We delete your reminder record 90 days after your return date, or immediately if you unsubscribe or ask us to. We keep no archive of deleted records.

Who else is involved

To run the site and send email we use the following providers, who process data on our behalf:

• Netlify and Cloudflare for hosting and delivery
• Supabase to store reminder sign-ups
• Resend to send the reminder emails
• Travelpayouts and Awin for affiliate tracking

We do not sell, rent or share your email address with anyone, including our booking partners.

Cookies and affiliate tracking

When you click through to a booking partner, that partner may set a cookie recording that you arrived from us, so they can pay us commission if you book. This does not change the price you pay. These cookies are set by the partner, on the partner's site, under their own policy.

You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time. Doing so will not stop you using this site.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

• tell you what data we hold about you, and give you a copy
• correct anything that is wrong
• delete it
• stop using it, or restrict how we use it
• withdraw your consent at any time

Email privacy@comparetheheat.com and we will action it within one month. If you are not happy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

How we make money

Compare the Heat earns commission when readers book through our outbound links, at no extra cost to the reader. This never changes the price you pay, and it does not change the order in which options are shown. See our terms for more.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant and you are on the reminder list, we will email you before it takes effect.
